About this deal

DC Ffion Morgan lives with her mother in the village of Cwn Coed and knows almost everybody in her patch. With a fresh case and a brilliant cast of reality TV wannabes entering the Welsh mountains, the stage is set for another gripping mystery. However, when the truth about the series is learned and the director is killed in a seemingly impossible fashion, its up to DC Morgan and DS Brady to solve the mystery.

Immediately, they go from being excited about being on a reality show, to terrified about what the producer knows and what will happen when their secret is revealed on live television. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Anyone could go to great lengths to prevent their secrets from coming out or to avenge the person who already ruined their life. Her will-they-won't-they-well-they-already-did-but-will-they-again relationship with English DS Leo Brady is also very believable and it's interesting to see how it plays out in the context of the investigation. I had the same issue with A Game of Lies that I had with the first book in the series - the book felt too long. I loved everything about this book - a brilliant, high-concept thriller with plot twists that made me gasp, and wonderful characters that had me laughing out loud and wincing in horror.

Both Clare's second and third novels, I See You and Let Me Lie, were number one Sunday Times bestsellers. I had to switch to the audiobook version halfway through as I found myself skipping lines to get to something more exciting. A new reality television programme, Exposure, is being filmed near the village, and one of the local residents is a contestant. Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Landmark, Clare Mackintosh and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. The first book in the series was ok in as much as I wanted to read to the end but only because I was mildly intrigued to see what would happen. This engrossing narrative seamlessly continues the journey of its characters, delving deeper into their complexities and the intricate web of their lives.
