Distilled to Master Distiller Willie Pratt's exacting specifications, the US*1 range is only released when Willie and the Michter's tasting panel deem it ready. In its earliest days, Shenk’s produced whiskey from rye grain, a favourite local crop in the Pennsylvania Blue Mountain Valley where the distillery was located. Distinctive and immediately recognisable, Amaro Montenegro beings with syrupy sweetness and then notes of mild bitters and botanical essences begin to take over, leading to a citrusy end note.

Grains are sourced from a handful of US farmers and the spirit matured in charred white oak barrels - which infuses the whiskey with notes of vanilla, wood and spice. Magliocco and Newman began with a simple strategy – to honor the Michter’s legacy by producing the best whiskey possible, cost be damned! Very rich and fruity on the nose, with sumptuous notes of dried fruit, raisins and barley sugar, countered by brioche and fennel. On the finish the richness remains, but there’s freshness in the form of black pepper that delivers a kick of spicy zing.
