The Blood on Satan's Claw was acquired by the American distribution company, Cannon Films, who released it theatrically in the United States in the spring of 1971, with a New York City opening taking place on 15 April 1971. [1] It went on to screen frequently in the American drive-in theater circuit throughout the remainder of 1971. [b] From the Garden of Eden until the time of Jesus, Satan continued to accumulate power. Like we saw earlier, he had grown powerful enough to demand that Jesus worship him in exchange for the nations Jesus had come to redeem. The death of Generalissimo Francisco Franco in November 1975 meant not only the end of a 39-year repressive regime for the people of Spain, and the ushering in of democracy, but the dawn of a new freedom in the cinematic arts, as well. With the effective ending, in 1977, of the strict censorship laws that had hamstrung filmmakers for decades, a new looseness was engendered. Films could now be released that contained nudity, sexual themes, and violent and horrific elements...provided, of course, that the film was tagged with the "Clasificada S" label, that "S," of course, standing for "sex." Released in 1978, "Escalofrio" (which opened in the U.S. with the title "Satan's Blood") was one of the first pictures out of the gate to take advantage of the new freedoms. There are many satans, but only one Iblis. Iblis as Satan is capitalized – because of him being the epitome as well as a source of all evil and mischief – whereas other satans are in lower case.

Finally free from Francisco Franco's repressed rule, Spanish filmmakers went nuts and made movie like, well, this one. And that’s the big usage problem here. Satan’s Blood is excellent when adding it to a liquid base. We’ll definitely look at it to warm up soup without changing the underlying flavor. But for those of us with normal, non-super-human taste buds, it’s way, way, way too much as an additive on solid foods. It just becomes too concentrated in one place. If you’re not careful, Satan’s Blood Hot sauce will bite you in the ass and turn the burliest of men into total wimps.
