When buying 1 – 2 Person Tents, the quality of the product is going to be one of the factors that you really scrutinise before you commit to buying. All the poles are obviously colour coded and easy to feed into the meshed pole sleeves and locate in each of the ‘lugs’ nice and secure, with individual tensioning straps available all the way around. Once up, it’s just a case of pegging down all the guy lines and it’s game on. We’re really pleased to have scored Berghaus Cairngorm 2 Tent so highly, givimg it 9.2 out of 10, making it well above the average for all 1 – 2 Person Tents. That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from Berghaus so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at Berghaus branded products within the 1 – 2 Person Tents category. So what can we say about our little Cairngorm 2 tent adventure? The tent itself was up in no time, which was clearly a bonus on this occasion as it was very cold and getting dark. We wanted to be pitched up fast and settled into our sleeping bags. We had only pitched this tent once previously, just to get a feel for how it went together se we were by no means experts. It goes up without any hassle. It is a simple and straight forward design, with nothing complicated about it. There are however some methods that you can use to determine a product’s quality without needing to physically have it.We can’t comment as to how it copes in the wind as in this occasion there wasn’t any, not even a breeze. That didn’t stop me putting the guy ropes out just in case any turned up overnight.

To give that price some context we then looked at all of the products available from Go Outdoors in the 1 – 2 Person Tents category. We found 19 items in total. What’s the price of 1 – 2 Person Tents? It didn’t take long to get this tent up and sitting pretty on top of the crisp white snow. There are only 3 colour coded poles in total, which means the outer is pitched rather fast and then you can get to turn your attention to the inner (more about the inner shortly). So, when it comes to tents – the wind is literally your worst enemy. It can be the make or break for most; it can be generally expected that tents will keep the rain, sun and bugs off you while you bask in your beauty sleep, but the ability to withstand more punishing conditions can really set it apart from the rest of the crowd. The downside to buying online is that you can’t actually get hold of the product to try it out first. Fly sheet, inner tent and groundsheet fully fire retardant - tested to the European EN 5912 safety standard.

Advice on buying Outdoor Adventure

So, now the scope is set, I introduce the Berghaus Cairngorm 3. This 3 man tent is Semi-Geodesic in shape, supposedly better at providing ‘useable’ space, and to the more discerning eye, makes it look pretty damn cool. N.B. It seems difficult to find the green colourway online. I believe the next model year has been released in a less-than-stealthy red, with the same feature list as the green one here. Stand-Out Features There are ventilation points front and rear of the tent, and the door of the inner has mesh at the top. All this helps to maintain the comfort inside the tent and reduce any condensation build up.
